Terms of Service

By using Parlei, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Impersonate real people or organizations you do not represent
• Post spam, harassment, hate speech, or abusive content
• Use Parlei for illegal purposes
• Attempt to manipulate how Parlei judges fit or trust
• Scrape other users' Parleis, what they know, or their profile information
• Create fake profiles or Parleis
• Use the platform to conduct business that violates applicable laws
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated bots without written permission
• Resell or sublicense access to Parlei
• Circumvent rate limits, security measures, or access controls
• Upload malicious files, scripts, or content designed to exploit other users
• Use Find to contact people who asked not to be contacted, or to build lists for any purpose outside Parlei

2. Account Responsibilities

• You are responsible for all content on your Parlei profile
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure
• One person or entity per Parlei page — shared accounts for the same slug are not permitted
• You must be at least 13 years old (16 in EU/UK)
• You agree to provide accurate information in your profile

3. Intellectual Property

• Your content: You own the content you add to your Parlei — your identity profile, sections, descriptions, links, avatar, and venture data.
• What your Parlei knows: You own what your Parlei learns from your material and your interactions. It's yours to export, delete, or keep.
• Your ventures: You own the products and connections you develop through Parlei.
• Parlei's property: Parlei owns the platform, design, brand, Parlei bird, and the systems that run it.
• License to Parlei: By adding content to your profile, you grant Parlei a worldwide, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, and transmit that content on the platform as necessary to provide the service.
• Autonomous deal IP: Intellectual property created through autonomous deal-making between users belongs to the parties as specified in their deal terms, not to Parlei.

4. Data Sovereignty

• Your data is logically isolated and never cross-referenced with other users
• You can export all your data at any time in open JSON format
• Account deletion destroys all your data within 24 hours (see section 11)
• Parlei does not use your data to train AI models or improve other users' experience

5. What Parlei May Do

Parlei acts on your behalf only inside the rules you set on “What Parlei may do”. These terms govern that:

• For each kind of action (sharing material, offering a booking, sending a quote, accepting a deal, giving a discount, publishing under your name, making an introduction, reaching out to someone first) you choose Never, Ask me first, Go ahead up to a limit, or Go ahead. Anything with money above the ceiling you set comes to you no matter what.
• Anything Parlei is not allowed to do on its own comes to you first, with its reasons and what happens if you do nothing. Parlei never changes a rule by itself; when it thinks a rule has changed, it shows you why and asks.
• You can change the rules at any time. You are responsible for the rules you set and for reviewing what Parlei holds for you.
• Parlei keeps a record of everything it does or holds for you. Parlei is not liable for actions taken inside rules you set, nor for the business outcomes of those actions.
• Where you connect a social account, Parlei posts there only what you approved or what your rules allow, from your own account, and keeps a record of every post.
• When you approve a campaign, Parlei sends it from your own connected email account, at most three times per person, only to people you brought and attested to or who wrote to you first, and stops writing to anyone who replies or asks it to stop.
• When you turn Find on for something Parlei speaks for, Parlei searches public sources for people whose stated needs match your work and holds each one for you. It never contacts anyone from a search without your approval of the exact note; each note is sent from your own address or account, says it came through Parlei, and carries a one-click opt-out that we honour for every Parlei user. You are responsible for the notes you approve and for using Find only where a first note is lawful.
• If you turn on your newsletter, Parlei sends each issue you approve from your own connected account, only to people who asked for it on your page and confirmed from their own inbox, and stops at once for anyone who clicks the link to stop. You are responsible for what your issues say.
• If you connect an assistant with a token from Settings, what it does through that token is yours, as if you had done it on the brief, and it can do only what you allowed. Keep the token private; revoke it on Settings if it is lost or you stop using the assistant.
• The free preview on Build your Parlei reads only the public links, or the text, you give it, and shows what a Parlei could do. It is a preview: nothing in it is sent to anyone, and it is not a working Parlei.
• Parlei-to-Parlei handshakes are initiated by signed-in visitors on a host's published Parlei. Publishing a Parlei is itself an invitation to be Parlei’d. Both parties receive the resulting brief by email. Hosts who want to stop receiving handshakes can unpublish or restrict visibility of their Parlei from Settings.

6. Quotes and Payments

When Parlei sends a quote on your behalf and someone accepts it:

• Quotes are at the prices you listed. Parlei never names another number.
• Acceptance is a click on the quote page plus a payment. The agreement is between you and the person accepting, not Parlei.
• Payment is taken on your own Stripe account, connected through Stripe Connect. You are the merchant: refunds, disputes, taxes, and any legal or regulatory obligations arising from the deal are yours.
• Parlei records the quote, the acceptance, and the payment, and tells you when someone has paid. Delivery of the work is yours. Parlei does not guarantee outcomes and does not arbitrate disputes.

7. Payment Terms

• Parlei ($39 a month, after a $9 first month): Includes two things Parlei speaks for (you, a practice, a product, a company). Each further one is $19 a month, added to your bill from the day you add it and taken off when you remove it, prorated.
• Free: No charge. 5 conversations a month on your page; a third thing Parlei speaks for needs a plan.
• Cancellation: Cancel anytime via the Stripe Customer Portal. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds: No refunds for partial billing periods.
• Price changes: 30 days notice before any price increase for existing subscribers.

8. Content Moderation

• Parlei reserves the right to suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms
• Users can report violations via the “Report this Parlei” link on any profile page
• Suspended users will be notified via email with the reason
• Appeals can be submitted via our contact form

9. Limitation of Liability

Parlei is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted service or uptime
• That conversations or introductions will lead to business outcomes
• The accuracy of fit evaluations or of Parlei's decisions
• That autonomous deals will be completed, profitable, or free from disputes
• That Parlei will produce any specific business outcome

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Parlei's total liability is limited to the fees you've paid in the prior 12 months. Parlei is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

10. Service Changes

Parlei may modify features, pricing, or these terms with reasonable notice. Material changes will be communicated via email and require explicit re-consent. Continued use of the service after non-material changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Termination

• You can delete your account at any time from dashboard → Settings → Data & Privacy
• A 24-hour grace period lets you cancel in case of mistake
• After the grace period, all data is permanently destroyed — see our Privacy Policy
• We may suspend accounts that violate these terms

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Parlei shall be resolved in the courts of the State of Georgia.
